….back in black…..

January 26th, 2008 by nkphnx

I am back at last, after all these months of inactivity…work, life and studies are the things that kept me pretty occupied for these past few months. But nevertheless, will warm this blog up for a start with this news entry.

It’s good to know that are still some goodness in the thrown up world of today :)

What would you do if you found something valuable that doesn’t belong to you? Will you be that noble to return it to whom it belongs? Is there a good samaritan inside you somewhere?

…..first day…..

July 2nd, 2007 by nkphnx

First day of work sure is exhausting here in Unisem… Hours of sitting in conference rooms listening to presentations are indeed not pleasant.. However, training would last for about 2 weeks so I guess there’s still little actual work for me to do.. and for the working environment, the place looks somewhat like a hospital and their similarities lie in that they are both filled with long white-painted empty corridors with occasional two-way doors on the sides..Yep, just like what you would find in hospitals, minus the stretchers….In the meantime, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that I won’t ever need them in the long run..

….happy fifty….

Happy 50th Post! A good way to celebrate, by putting up another lame post for a lame blog… I doubt anyone will read this anyway, but what the heck…I’ll even put on a new layout for the occasion… :P Peace out!

….ever after….

Four years of my life has just passed…Poof! Just like that, four gruesome years of my life spent completing a university degree has just ended last month. I still remember when I first stepped onto the grounds of the dreaded campus with nothing more than sand and a few lifeless and leaveless trees four years ago. I felt the same way what everybody felt when they first leave home to an unknown place to further their studies…homesick, lifeless, dreaded,…you name it, everything…yea, I thought it would be hell…but hey, it ended up quite nice, not so bad afterall…even so when I met amazing friends, my irreplaceable bandmates cum buddies and been to amazing places. The best thing that ever happened to me during the past four years was being in the band. We got to do things so bizarre that you would not even think of doing alone, write songs so beautiful that they’ll beat the crap out of the list in Top 40 and got so high on stage that’ll make ecstasy pills look like Tic Tac. Those times are sensational and virtually irreplaceable, and they’ll always have a special place in my heart. I would like to take this opportunity to express my greatest appreciation and gratitude to the guys, you have all made a difference in my life….You know who you are now ;) Seriously, you will all be missed… :(  I’ll be waiting for that day when we could be on stage together again doing what we do best, Rockin’ a good time! Until then, I wish you all the best in your careers and do keep in touch and keep those compositions coming! And a bit of advice for those fresh university students still struggling to fit in, try to open up yourselves to new people and new surroundings… Mix around a bit and do stuff you like with new friends, you might like what you find….cause you will never know what you’ll get if you don’t give the unknown a try ;) Try the best to make that short 3/4 years the best days of your life, you’ll miss them when they are gone, trust me ;)

….constitutional aftereffects….

April 17th, 2007 by nkphnx

It’s been ages since I’ve posted anything here…mainly because of my buzy schedules prior to graduation and also lately, the lack of my motivation to blog…I was too shocked by the news Monday regarding the Virginia Tech massacre that I had to speak up, or at least a post-up…I know it’s kinda inappropriate to start up a stale blog with disturbing news like this but I think people should be reminded every once in a while of not taking for granted on that little remaining sense of security that we still have here back home…Imagine if people have the right to buy 8mm Magnums and they are as easily bought off the shelve of a departmental store as a pack of gum, you would be too terrified to be walking around town even in any given time of day…Wonder what Malaysia will be if everyone can have a shot at someone else’s head…I reckon it will be something like the scenes in the game Fallout… Just imagine again if you are one of the students in VT, suddenly waking up in your dorm room to the sound of gunshots and crying victims…eerie, isn’t it? Primarily, this is the resulting effect of a flawed US constitutional right, the right to carry arms…All I can say is, America isn’t the best place you want to be right now…Heck, you even have a high possibility of being shot if you were to dress up like Osama or beaten with a stick if you talk like Borat…Civilization has beginning revert back to it’s primal stages, a sign of history repeating itself… My deepest regards not just to the victims of VT, but to all who have perished in the clutches of barbarism…God Bless..

….if everyone cared….

February 6th, 2007 by nkphnx

If Everyone Cared

From underneath the trees, we watch the sky
Confusing stars for satellites
I never dreamed that you’d be mine
But here we are, we’re here tonight

Singing Amen, I’m alive
Singing Amen, I’m alive

[CHORUS]
If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We’d see the day when nobody died

And I’m singing

Amen I, I’m alive
Amen I, I’m alive

And in the air the fireflies
Our only light in paradise
We’ll show the world they were wrong
And teach them all to sing along

Singing Amen I’m alive
Singing Amen I’m alive

[CHORUS (X2)]

And as we lie beneath the stars
We realize how small we are
If they could love like you and me
Imagine what the world could be

If everyone cared and nobody cried
If everyone loved and nobody lied
If everyone shared and swallowed their pride
We’d see the day when nobody died

We’d see the day, we’d see the day
When nobody died
We’d see the day, we’d see the day
When nobody died
We’d see the day when nobody died

An inspirational song from Nickelback..it’s just too meaningful to ignore… Just ask yourself what if? What if everyone cared, everyone loved and everyone shared?

"It only takes you to change the world, but then, it takes the world to change you" -NK

….simply me….

January 31st, 2007 by nkphnx

The end of this year’s concert on the 10th of January marks the closing of an important chapter in my life.. A chapter filled with joy and frustration, highs and lows, give and takes..and I’m just a couple of months away from my graduation..Ahhh.. And looking back now, I still would never have traded them off for anything.. It is during these 4 years of my university life that I have met incredible people and made irreplacable friends. And from playing music, I had opportunities to travel to different and new places, and also opportunities to meet different people…Yes, There are always ups and downs in everything you do and I certainly have had my share of both…and it is from them I’ve learned that different individuals do have very different opinions sometimes and once in a while, disagreements and disputes will happen, but most of the time they are these little conflicts that somehow strengthen the understanding between one another..as the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…the same also applies to my life in particular…I’ve been hammered to the ground countless times over and over again and yet, I’m still breathing (and rockin’!).. It takes a lot to bring me down ya’ know :D…but just in case, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed and pray that I’ll survive another half a lifetime of hammering when I begin my first step into the working world a.k.a adulthood…Yeah, adulthood, days when I’ll finally be able to earn my own keep, save some money, buy a few hundred thousand dollars worth of equipment and play the blues all night long…and end up being a self-declared goof in my very own right…hahaha..by then I’ll either be dead from starvation or killed by my parents..:S Ah..well.., since I can’t be the next Vai or Satch or maybe even end up becoming some filthy rich big shot, I might as well just get a life like the rest. A life from nine to five.. ;)

….happy new year….

January 1st, 2007 by nkphnx

Happy Belated New Year, guys! Welcome 2007! out with the old, in with the new I should say! Well, been extremely buzy on New Year’s Eve and a couple of days before…Phew! rehearsing for the New Year Fiesta performance in AutoCity was really exhausting… But a wonderful experience indeed….the fact that we share the same stage with Gary Yap, another local singer and Michael Tong (correction from the earlier post, not very sure of the guys name :P) all the way from Hong Kong (albeit on different days, our slot was on the day before New Year’s Eve) "boleh tahan la!"…HeHeH :D Nonetheless we did sort of open for them! ;P Didn’t have the chance to watch them perform on New Year’s Eve though, as I was counting down on Penang Island’s Gurney Drive…The stage setting was by the beach and the atmosphere was spectacular! There’s this constant sea breeze and fog from the smoke machines and snow sprays blowing all over the place, add all these to a rock concert on stage…awesome! Oh how I wish that we were the ones performing up there…(dream on!) :P The crowd that showed up were crazy! They were crammed all the way from the stage along the coastal road to about over 300 meters further down… Fortunately, we did manage to evade some serious ’snow’ wars on the way back to the car….Phew! Anyways Happy 2007 to everyone and may this new year bring peace, joy and happiness to everybody! Peace Out! *<]:-P

….seasons greetings….

December 23rd, 2006 by nkphnx

First thing’s first…Happy holidays to you fellas out there! Yep, Christmas time is here again…2 more days till Santa comes falling down the chimney, well at least the fake ones don’t..heheh :P While most people abroad are having a white Christmas, at least we are having a wet one (pity those down south though..) They’re pretty much the same thing if you ask me, just that snow is a solidified version of rain…so if you really crave for that snowy atmosphere, go to a snowhouse, or start throwing each other ice cubes from the fridge.. ;)
Ah, another thing, you can’t call Christmas a Christmas if there aren’t any wishes now, could you? :) Well if there is one thing I could wish for Christmas, I’d say let there be world peace! No, really, I meant that (from the bottom)… I know it’s impossible, but if everyone started appreciating what they have all along and not just wishing for something more, it’s possible, because peace has always been, in all of us ;)….So much for a holiday post! Well, all I can say is, have a jolly good Christmas and a happy new year! See ya in 2007! *<]:-)
